Cool roofs are an easy energy efficiency upgrade when you are in the market for a new roof. Many federal, state and local government entities now include cool roofs in their building codes, green building standards and energy efficiency programs. Depending on where you live, there are different cool roof requirements.

Below are a list of various building codes, green building standards and energy efficiency programs. They are divided into two lists based on the slope of your roof. If you are a California resident, take a peak at the California Title 24 building code requirements. In some parts of California, cool roofs are now required.
