The Nomad Cafe

The Nomad Cafe is a great little neighborhood cafe that also resembles a computer lab, so many people use laptop computers. It's a typical morning at Oakland's Nomad Cafe. Jazz hangs in the background. Neighbors clutching travel mugs amble in past posters touting Barack Obama and fair-trade coffee. A flyer of upcoming events includes a night of "subterranean world-core."
It's old news that iMacs have replaced Bics on coffeehouse tables, and that some folks treat cafes as home offices...

Midland School

Since 1932, Midland School has embraced a mission of distinguishing needs from wants at the core of its rigorous college preparatory education. Every year since 2003, consecutive sophomore classes have helped install a photovoltaic (PV) array on campus. As of 2009, the arrays total 17-kilowatt (KW) DC and meet about 15% of the campus’ communal electricity needs.

City of Hayward

The City of Hayward is taking steps to reduce GHG emissions on several fronts including: adoption of a green building ordinance in December 2008, adoption of Environmentally Friendly Landscape Guidelines in March 2009, enforcement of a water efficient landscape ordinance, and certification of the City’s Fleet Management Division as a Green Business.
