3) News Story

The news piece should target a general audience and can be developed either as a written article for a newspaper or Web site, as a video report or as an audio recording. (Your news story is for application purposes only; it does not need to be submitted to, or accepted by, any actual media outlet.) It should tell us a little bit more about you, your abilities as a communicator and your commitment to the climate change issue, and should specifically address:

  1. How climate change is affecting California, or will in the future.
  2. Why you are personally interested in addressing climate change.
  3. What you do on a personal level, or what decisions you have made in your everyday life, to address climate change.
  4. How young people can have a positive influence on the issue of climate change.
