Meet The California Climate Champions
The California Climate Champions program is sponsored by the California Air Resources Board and the British Council, and is part of the International Climate Champions effort. Through a statewide competition, 10 young people who demonstrated a commitment to environmental issues and making a change in their communities were selected as California Climate Champions for 2009, joining the 15 California Climate Champions who were selected in 2008.

These champions have been busy helping with local, national and international projects as well as working with the media to communicate the urgency of climate change and to engage others to make a difference. Along with champions from Canada and Brazil, they participated in a “climate camp” over the summer where they talked to leading climatologists, learned more about how to best reach audiences with their messages, and mapped out the projects they will implement over the next year.
